There are a variety of factors that can be monitored when performing audio monitoring.


The audio you can hear when you speak is your microphone audio and any filters that you may have activated (well come to audio filters in a separate article very soon!). By default, the monitoring device is the same default playback device set in Windows, which would mean if you were to monitor any sources it would be mixed with any other audio and end up on the recording again.
